The Lease Signing is a time for Celebration

Make it fun and memorable for your new residents. They should feel invited and privaledged to be moving into their new home under your care. The best way to establish a good relationship is to get off on the right foot, and this celebration certainly creates that impression.

There are balloons, there name displayed in lights, and a gift bag for the resident.

If the resident has kids, let them each take a balloon, this will certainly make them happy.

With their name displayed for all to see, they know its all about them at that moment.

Finally, the gift bag lets them know that you are thoughtfull because it is filled with items they could use on thier first few nights (often times residents are so exhausted from the move they may forget which box has their toothbrush, toiletries, etc. so those things have been included, as though they showed up for the night at a hotel. Also, just in case there is a loose screw that was missed in the rehab or in case the lights go out because of a miscoordination with the utility company, you have them covered, by giving them two screwdrivers and a flashlight.)

**Time and time again, over the years we have been told this was a highlight for the resident and most of them end up using the items because they were there. More importantly it let them know we cared and took a little of the pressure off of them with the uncertaintly of moving. They tell us, at that moment they looked forward to their stay. Honestly, this is the type of thing that can subconsiously create a long term resident.
